Unhinged:

......
by A.G. Howard
Release Date: 7 January 2014
Publisher: Amulet Books
Alyssa Gardner has been down the rabbit hole. She was crowned Queen of the Red Court and faced the bandersnatch. She saved the life of Jeb, the boy she loves, and escaped the machinations of the disturbingly appealing Morpheus. Now all she has to do is graduate high school. That would be easier without her mother, freshly released from an asylum, acting overly protective and suspicious. And it would be much simpler if the mysterious Morpheus didn’t show up for school one day to tempt her with another dangerous quest in the dark, challenging Wonderland—where she (partly) belongs. Could she leave Jeb and her parents behind again, for the sake of a man she knows has manipulated her before? Will her mother and Jeb trust her to do what’s right? Readers will swoon over the satisfying return to Howard’s bold, sensual reimagining of Carroll’s classic.

Merry Christmas!!

A blog is only as good as it's readers. We have been fortunate to have such wonderful follower/friends who have helped us to achieve over four thousand blog followers, 222,270 page views and most importantly, innumerable books to donate to Franklin High School in Ohio. After all, that's why we are here---to promote Teen Literacy. So today, on Christmas Day, gather your children around and read a good book to them:)

Merry Christmas and
Happy New Year!!

December 24, 2013

It's New Year's Eve!!

Life is busy, we get it. We here at RFYF have children, grandchildren, jobs, spouses and many responsibilities so we understand. As a matter of fact, I bet we are ALL running around today cooking, primping and getting ready for a FABULOUS evening tonight. Am I right? And since we are so often busy, certain important things seem to fall by the wayside---like reading a good book to ourselves, our children, or our grandchildren. It's ok, right? We can read to them later, school teaches them to read, they can read to themselves. There is always an excuse.

Well, NO EXCUSES this year. For 2014, let's all make a concerted effort to sit and read. Stop and smell the book pages. Take a moment to pick a bouquet of words. Bring a sick friend a freshly baked story. Sing along to an audiobook. There are many ways that we can work a book, a short story, a few pages into our day. The benefits are as important as drinking three glasses of water a day and taking your daily vitamin. We grow when we read. We become better, stronger people when we learn. Our brains get a workout.

So for 2014, let's promise to READ!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM READ FOR YOUR FUTURE!!!

The Book Of Love

......
by Tammar Stein
Release Date: 31 December 2013
Publisher: Harper Teen
The Secret Sisterhood of Heartbreakers has given Lucy everything she thought she wanted. Gone is the poor, innocent girl pining away for a guy who didn’t deserve her and in her place is a fierce, fabulous Heartbreaker with glamorous sisters, an unbreakable heart, and access to magic. The only problem is this: Lucy’s floppy-haired, blues-playing best friend Tristan is in pain. And she’s powerless to help him. Or is she? It’s time for the annual Heartbreaker competition — a chance for Lucy and her sisters to win The Book of Love, an ancient tome containing centuries’ worth of Heartbreaker wisdom, and maybe, just maybe, enough magic to fix Tristan’s heart for good. Lucy will do whatever it takes; if it helps her fix her friend, she knows it’s worth it. At least she thinks she knows. As Lucy goes deeper into the world of the sisterhood, she learns that even those closest to her have unimaginable secrets, and when it comes to magic, nothing comes without a price . . .

Review: How I Lost You by Janet Gurtler

Summary-
There are a few things Grace Anderson knows for sure. One is that nothing will ever come between her and her best friend, Kya Kessler. They have a pact. Buds Before Studs. Sisters Before Misters. But in the summer before senior year, life throws out challenges they never expected. And suddenly the person who's always been there starts to need the favor returned. Grace and Kya are forced to question how much a best friend can forgive. And the answer is not what they expected.

Review-
People that like Sarah Dessen will like this book. though it may be fiction, this book has many aspects that people can relate too. like losing a best friend; someone they know who went on a downward spiral in their life; being compared to another; whether they lived in the spotlight or the shadows. This book made me step back and think of the situation my best friend and me are going through. i realized all i can do is take care of myself first.
